Louisiana Research Center
The Louisiana Research Center, LLC is a clinical research center owned and operated by gastroenterologists who are also partners in the group practice of GastroIntestinal Specialists, A.M.C. The practice has participated in investigational studies since 1992, and the successful completion of those studies led to the formation of the Louisiana Research Center. There are five full-time coordinators on staff.
The consistent ability to recruit and enroll patients (and complete studies in a timely and professional manner) has resulted in a high level of satisfaction for clinical research organizations and sponsoring pharmaceutical companies.
Since 1992, we have participated in and completed studies involving peptic ulcer disease (with Helicobacter pylori), erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), nonerosive esophagitis, anorectal disease, chronic constipation, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and Hepatitis C.
We have also performed studies in healthy volunteers to study the possible effects of medications on the gastrointestinal tract. The Louisiana Research Center is actively pursuing participation in additional gastrointestinal studies.

Current Studies
We are currently enrolling patients in a variety of clinical trials. Learn more below.

Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)
NASH is a chronic, progressive disease caused by fat deposition in the liver, leading to inflammation and damage. If untreated, it can develop into cirrhosis, liver failure or cancer. The cause is unclear, but people with Type 2 diabetes, obesity or high cholesterol are at higher risk. Want to learn more about NASH studies? Click the

Crohn’s
Disease
All study-related medical procedures and tests will be provided at no cost. Crohn’s disease causes chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to various symptoms and complications. If you have been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and are experiencing ongoing symptoms, you may be eligible to participate in one of our current studies.

Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease marked by inflammation of the large intestine (rectum and colon). We currently offer several different studies participants can choose from. Participants must be 18 or older and have had a UC diagnosis for at least 3 months. Click the link below to learn more about involvement in UC studies.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening
We are currently enrolling in several CRC screening studies and offering participants the chance to contribute to research in colorectal cancer prevention. To qualify, participants must be 40 or older and scheduled for a screening colonoscopy. If you meet these criteria and are interested in participating, please contact us to learn more.

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic disease where the bile ducts inside and outside of the liver become inflamed and scarred. If you have been diagnosed with PSC and are interested in participating in a clinical study, please click the button below to learn more about the available opportunities and how you can contribute to important research.

Early Cancer Diagnosis
Early cancer diagnosis saves lives by enabling timely interventions and treatment strategies, improving prognoses and recovery chances. The Louisiana Research Center invites you to participate in a blood and tissue collection study to support the development of cancer diagnostic tests. Your involvement can help advance cancer research and enhance patient care.

Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE) is a chronic immune disease causing difficulty swallowing. We are seeking participants ages 18 and older with a diagnosis of EOE or who have experienced four or more episodes of dysphagia in two weeks. All study-related care and medication are free, and no insurance is needed.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Symptoms include bloating, gas, diarrhea and/or constipation, and abdominal pain. We are currently enrolling in an IBS with Abdominal Pain study. Participants must be 18 to 70 years of age with a clinical diagnosis of IBS-C or IBS-D.

Severe Hypertriglyceridemia
The ENTRUST clinical research study is seeking individuals with severe hypertriglyceridemia. This study aims to evaluate a new investigational medication designed to safely and effectively lower triglyceride levels in those with elevated triglycerides. By participating, you can contribute to research that may lead to improved treatment options for people with this condition.

Altrubio UC
The ALTB-268-201 clinical research trial is evaluating an investigational medication designed to reduce UC disease activity by regulating overactive immune cells. By participating, you can help advance research that may lead to improved treatment options for UC in the future. Want to learn more about the ALTB-268-201 Clinical Trial? Click the link below.
